Restaurants with a playground in Mauritius

Share Article

Looking for a kid-friendly place to eat in Mauritius? Here's a list of restaurants and foodcourts with a playground.

Now with 2 children of our own, we’re always on the lookout for restaurants with toddler-friendly facilities.

After scouring many addresses, I’m sharing with you the ones with a play area.

Restaurants with playgrounds

  • Kogi kogi

Korean restaurant with several locations on the island, but I’d like to tell you about the one in Grand Baie. Not only is the restaurant modern and uncluttered, there’s also a large children’s room with games and books.

There’s also a large changing table in the toilets and a stool at the sink for the little ones.

  • Spur Bagatelle

This South African chain located in the Bagatelle shopping centre in Moka offers good burgers and tasty ribs. The advantage of this restaurant is undoubtedly its play area with climbing wall, slides, 2 video game stations and a colouring table. And best of all, there’s a member of staff to look after the children. So you can enjoy a quiet lunch – while looking after your youngest – while your eldest is off on the slides in the next room.

  • Nomad

Nestling in the heart of Rivière Noire, this trendy restaurant serves salads, tapas, burgers, grills and also wonderful breakfasts and brunches.
In the building next to the restaurant, you’ll find an I-M-M-E-N-S-E area where children can have the time of their lives. It’s really big. It’s great for children over 6-7 who are fairly independent. Younger children will need to be accompanied, unfortunately.

Vanilla-village
  • Vanilla Village

Just 2 steps away from Nomad, you’ll find this ‘complex’ where, as well as having lunch, you can also do your shopping in their grocery shop, and buy local souvenirs in the My Pop Up Store. You can also enjoy live concerts (on Sundays) while letting the kids play in the outdoor children’s play area, which includes a swing and a little monkey bridge.
I recommend the salads if you drop in.

  • Doodland Bagatelle

This toy shop also serves meals, snacks and ice creams at the entrance. On the 1st floor, there is a play area for which a fee is charged (around RS 250 per hour per child and accompanying adult). Please note that you will need non-slip socks for the children (sold at RS 50 a pair) and normal socks for those accompanying them.

Pomodoro restaurant
Restaurant Italien Pomodoro à Phoenix mall
  • Pomodoro Phoenix

This Italian restaurant in the food court area of the Jumbo Phoenix mall has set up a play corner with a small kitchen, legos and a television upstairs. So we were able to have a quiet lunch while our grown-up was next door having fun.

  • Le Macdonald’s de Beau Bassin

Not all Macdos have a play area in Mauritius. You’ll find one on the floor of the Beau-Bassin Macdo. It really helped us out.

Foodcourts with play areas

Of course, there are plenty of food courts in shopping centres that offer a play area for children. Here are a few examples:

  • Trianon

In the heart of the food court, you can have lunch and keep an eye on your child/children on the slide. The tables are right next to the structure, so it’s very practical for the little ones. At the far end of the food court, there’s also an area dedicated to arcade games. The only negative point is the noise.

  • Quartier des Serres

A new, trendy, bobo space in the North of France, adults will be able to shop at Neofoods and enjoy the zen-like food court. Children won’t be left to complain either: right next to the main entrance, you’ll find play structures for kids. Hopscotch, swings, slide, climbing wall, monkey bridge… My boys loved the place.

mahogany
  • Mahogany

The tables are a little away from the play area, so children will need to be accompanied. Large red tractor that many children will love.

La croisette
  • La Croisette

As well as a carousel (for a fee), there’s a large play area with different types of structure to delight your children. As the tables are indoors, it won’t be easy to keep an eye on them while they’re eating.

There’s also a large outdoor area for cycling, scootering and rollerblading.

You’ll even find a life-size remote-controlled car hire stand.

Cascavelle
  • Cascavelle

There’s a really nice play area. It’s right next to Mcdonald’s.
