We recently discovered this little corner of paradise and were charmed by its peaceful, verdant atmosphere. A corner of primary forest preserved from mass tourism: a true haven of calm.
A walk for everyone
Open to the public from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., this 1 to 2-hour walk offers an exceptional natural setting on a 2.4 km loop.
The trail is very easy to do and suitable for all and it goes round starting and finishing with the car park.
If walking isn’t on your agenda for the day, no problem: several of picnic tables and kiosks are available for a lunch in the heart of nature. We’ve even come across families who’ve come just to enjoy a convivial meal before setting off again.
A nice experience for children
Children will love exploring the surrounding area, playing hide-and-seek behind the tall trees and reconnecting with nature. This verdant setting, far from the hustle and bustle of the beaches, offers a great alternative for varying family outings.
If you’re lucky, you may even spot a few monkeys in addition to the many birds.
Practical and accessible
Located not far from Mare aux Vacoas, in the center of the island, this walk can be combined with a stop at the viewpoint, offering a magnificent panorama of the surrounding landscape.
You can also visit Grand Bassin, not far away, or the Vallée Des Couleurs.
A word of warning though: don’t forget your mosquito repellent, as these little visitors can quickly spoil the party.
