Are you a fan of second-hand shopping? Well, so am I!
I’m sharing with you all the sites and places you need to know to get the best thrift deals!
Buying and selling second-hand in Mauritius
1. Offline stores
Flea markets
The second-hand market is becoming increasingly democratic in Mauritius. Yard sales are held regularly all over the island.
Ju & Marinette
Luxury retail outlet located in Grand Baie, Sottise Road. If you’re a fan of brand-name products of impeccable quality, this is the place for you. You’ll find Balenciaga, Chloé, Kenzo, Lacoste, Louis Vuitton…
→ More info:Ju & Marinette Facebook page
Charity Centre Tamarin
A big bazaar where you’ll find everything, but really everything, at low prices.

The Good Shop
Several stores on the island:
-
- Calebasses
- Petite Rivière
- Moka
- Curepipe
You’ll find the Emmaüs concept in Mauritius. Beware, there are a lot of clothes. Very affordable prices and easy to spot with their color codes.
→ More info: The Good Shop Facebook page
I recommend these 2 addresses, Charity Centre and The Good Shop, where you can also donate stuff of your own.
2. Online stores
Facebook Marketplace
Number 1 platform: Facebook Marketplace if you already have a Facebook account. It’s easy to use, and shows you all the products around you.
→ More info: facebook.com/marketplace
Weshare.mu
Mauritian craigslist / gumtree? Weshare.mu
You’ll find virtually all the same features as its French counterpart, such as distinct product categories and premium listings.
There’s something for everyone: home, car, real estate, wellness, fashion…
The platform is user-friendly, with the option of selecting a telephone operator and whether or not to use the WhatsApp application.

Facebook groups
Perfect if you sell or look for specific products: cars, baby stuff… There are groups for all types of products or groups according to where you live: Mums of the West, Mums of the North…
Expat.com
“Classifieds” section of the site expat.com : expat.com/fr/petites-annonces/afrique/ile-maurice/
Astervender.mu
Classic classifieds website
WhatsApp groups
There are special whatsapp groups for baby and children’s stuff. These groups come in very handy if you’re expecting a happy event, or if you want to get rid of all your baby stuff (my own experience). You’ll reach a well-targeted audience, enabling you to sell your product fairly quickly.
That’s how I learned that you could have “sub-groups” within WhatsApp “groups”… Yes, you can.
⚠️ On the other hand, expect to receive lots of messages and notifications.
→ If you’re interested in joining these groups, you’ll need the dedicated link to access them.
3. Hybrid stores
Double Life Mauritius
As you know, some European clothing brands are absent from the Mauritian market, such as Zara, H&M, Pull&Bear, Bershka…
Don’t cry, ladies, you can find some of these brands at Double Life in Saint Pierre. Your go-to consignment shop in Mauritius to buy and sell curated women second hand fashion at discounted prices.
We love trendy clothes and accessories sorted by color and size!
Perfect for renewing your wardrobe: you go there to sell what you no longer wear and/or leave with new items.
And if you follow them on social networks, you can even order certain items featured in their stories. The best thing to do, however, is to go and see the entire collection and try on the items yourself.

My personal experience selling my clothes at Double Life:
RS 2500 net proceeds from 10 items sold (out of a total of 14 items deposited) in December 2023.
La Déchéthèque / KaseRanze
Specialists in the re-use of construction and renovation materials, La Déchetèque’s mission is to reconcile environmental, social and economic benefits.
You’re renovating and want to donate or resell your sink? Extra tiles? La Déchetèque, located at Nouvelle Usine, makes it easy to buy and resell second-hand materials for kitchens, bathrooms… You can even find end-of-stock items salvaged from stores.
It’s THE circular economy platform for reducing construction waste in Mauritius.
