On Saturday 10 August 2024, I tried out the Dôme Experience by House of Digital Art in the Bagatelle Mall car park.
Impossible to miss if you go to Bagatelle, you’ll see it dominating the car park, especially at night when the lights are on.
Installed since 11 July, this ephemeral experience ends on 31 August.
We had the ‘Space’ experience with the children in the morning session. There was another session: “Earth”.
It lasted 20 minutes, and we found ourselves in complete darkness, comfortably seated on footstools, waiting for the countdown to end.
The children can’t keep still and move from one footstool to another.
Price: RS 250 per person or €5 (for children over 4).
This is a very unusual and original activity for Maurice. We’re taken on a journey through different worlds in an almost 360-degree bubble. It’s quite abstract, and the children don’t fully understand the principle. It’s more of a sensory journey than a story with a clear plot.
My eldest son, aged 4, found it too short and thought the ‘cinema’ session would last longer.
If you’re passing through and have the time, why not do the activity.
However, the volume is far too high. Be careful if you are sensitive to sound and if you are with very young children. I would have appreciated it if they could have given us seats where the sound was lower under the dome, customer service needs to be reviewed.
Personally, it’s indeed a novelty but I wouldn’t have made a diversion specifically for this activity. Very short and expensive for an activity in Mauritius in my opinion.
Don’t hesitate to share your experience in the comments if you’ve tried it yourself.
