When the weather’s so so, Odysseo

Share Article

This could have been their slogan. Come and visit the very first oceanarium in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean.

When the weather’s so so, Odysseo

It could have been their slogan. Apart from shopping malls, what can you do on rainy days? Especially with children?

Another version that can also work: “When it’s too hot: Odysseo”. The beach is fine, but when you’re suffocating under 32 degrees, it’s also a good option.

Head for the first oceanarium in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean: Odysseo.
Located near Les Salines in Port Louis, this facility opened in 2021 and offers 5500 m2 of seabed discovery.

My recommandations

  • Buy tickets online. With the QR code, you can access the oceanarium directly, and there’s no need to queue as it’s often very busy on rainy days and weekends.
→ No need to queue if you have your tickets bought online, just go straight to the entrance with your QR codes. However, for one of the last children’s activities, you’ll need to ask at the checkout for coloring if you have children with you. This special coloring will allow you to project your child’s marine animal onto a screen at the end of the tour.
  • For residents and citizens of Mauritius, you can take a look at Marideal to see if there are any promotions on admission.
  • Special offers are often available during school vacations: 1 free adult ticket = 1 free child ticket.
  • Toilet facilities: you’ll find them before the entrance, to the left of the store. I’m telling you this because if you don’t, you’ll have a long way to go once you’re inside (on the outside snack side), and it’s hard to go back the other way (because of the fire doors, which normally don’t let you retrace your steps).
  • You’ll find an outdoor snack area right in the middle of the tour. A great place for a snack, coffee or ice cream. Take advantage of the outdoor aquariums to observe stingrays and sharks.
  • Take advantage of this outing to make a detour to Caudan, accessible via the swing bridge.
  • We like to take the metro express, the local tramway that runs from Port Louis to Curepipe.
  • We get off at Victoria Terminal in Port Louis, then walk to Odysseo.
